WWE: Why Kane Should Be Considered One of the Greatest of All Time

0 of 5

Many times we talk about the greatest of the game, and we tend to forget the "complimentary players" who help the greatest get to the top of the mountain.

When we talk about the greatest in the WWE, have we forgotten to acknowledge Kane as one of the greatest of all time, or one of the greatest complimentary wrestlers in the business, ever?

The "Big Red Machine" is one of the greats, who, in my opinion, deserves to be listed among HHH, HBK and The Undertaker is the greats of their generation and beyond. We made such a big thing about those three "Attitude Era" greats that maybe we forgot about Kane and his contributions to making the WWF and WWE as good as it was over the past two decades.

Personally, I am a fan of Glenn Jacobs and what he has done over and over again. And his character, both masked and unmasked, has become a staple of the WWE in terms of entertainment, with a story that remains prominent in our wrestling "culture."

Here are some other reasons why Kane should be considered among the all-time greats of his generation.

He Is Important to The Undertaker's Legacy

No one has had more influence in helping The Undertaker transform into the icon he has become.

Since his arrival in the WWF, Kane's major contribution has been the adversary and the "brother" of The Undertaker. From the moment his face first appeared to now, we can look at how he has transformed into the "beast" he is today.

You also have to take into account that Paulo Bearer, Kane and The Undertaker have a special connection, and that if all three were in the WWE now, they could pick up where they left off and not miss a beat.

We All Love His Gimmick

Like The Undertaker, Goldust, Razor Ramon and Jake Roberts, the gimmick never gets old.

It might get a little more evil, however.

The fire, the red, the big man stalking the ring. Everything transforms into Kane's backyard.

I love his gimmick because he keeps on coming and giving us all he has every time he changes his character even slightly.

Kane's gimmick is one of the 10 best of all time in professional wrestling.

He Faces the Best Every Night and Delivers

He too, like HHH and HBK and, yes, The Undertaker, gives everything in the ring and embraces the roles he takes on.

John Cena, The Rock, Mick Foley, The Undertaker. They are the best of the best and he has faced all them with tremendous success.

And the current angle he has with Randy Orton has some legs. Whether it continues is something creative has to decide.

Even at His Age, He Is Still a Contender

He can still carry the WWE and can hold a world title.

Even in his 40s, Kane is still in top shape. He can take on the best and still move like a man in his late 20s.

His feuds are not "soft" and he still takes a beating every night.

And most of all, the fans still love him.

He Is Still Standing

Undertaker appears to be on the last legs of his career.

Shawn Michaels probably won't wrestle again.

    HHH is now in management.

    Kane is still moving forward.

There are other wrestlers (Mark Henry, Big Show, Kurt Angle, Sting) who have been doing it and doing it well for decades. Kane needs to be mentioned in the same breath.

Many times, it would appear he is the forgotten man.
