Top Rank president Bob Arum, who is usually viewed as one of the major reasons that the megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has yet to take place despite years of trying, is now saying that he is planning for the bout to go down in 2013.

Manny can chase the wild rabbit in the television commercial (for liquor brand Hennessy), but as a promoter I can't chase a wild rabbit," Arum said. " I'm now concentrating, if Manny is able to fight through until next year, I'm planning or hoping that the Mayweather fight can take place next year."

Even with the slight uncertainty expressed by Arum, hearing the controversial promoter even mention that he is planning to make the fight everyone wants to see happen is as big as any news that has come out about the possible fight.

This would also mean that Mayweather would have softened his stance on the monetary split, as he wants more than a 50/50 split of the fight's purse, but realistically that's the only way the fight takes place.

Even with Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) coming out saying that he would do a 70/30 split, winner takes the bigger piece of the pot, Mayweather (42-0, 28 KOs) would never take such a risk with money involved in case the possible fight goes the distance—as we have seen time and time again, fight judges can ruin great fights by sketchy decisions.

With Arum thinking it would be best to make the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in 2013 the best decision despite him thinking Mayweather would have enough time after serving his 90-day jail stint to begin on June 1, there is another fight that is on his mind for Pacquiao next.

First of all, Manny has a really tough fight with Bradley . And secondly, depending on how things break for everybody would certainly agree that Juan Manuel (Marquez) deserves a rematch (with Pacquiao). So I think that would be what I'm focusing on.

So if everything falls into place, the people that want to see Marquez get his last crack at Pacquiao after their first three fights were so close would get what they want later this year and then just about every sports fan in the world would get what they want with Pacquiao-Mayweather next year, IF, everything works out as planned—which is never the case surrounding Money May and Pacman.
