After many wondered about what the newly merged Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing team would look like in the 2009 season, we got our answer!

During the Sprint Cup Media Tour presented by Lowe's Motor Speedway, EGR officials confirmed that they will be racing three cars in 2009: Juan Pablo Montoya in the No. 42 sponsored by Target and Wrigley's as an associate sponsor, Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 1 with Bass Pro Shops remaining as sponsor, and Aric Almirola in the No. 8 with a sponsor yet to be announced.

They also plan to run a fourth car in the Daytona 500, with a driver not confirmed yet.

“We kind of get the best of both worlds putting our 20-year relationship with Target on Juan. He won the Indy 500 with them before and then Wrigley’s can still continue to do their NASCAR programming around Juan and remain with the team," says team president Steve Lauletta.

"As far as Almirola’s car," Lauletta added, “We haven’t announced sponsorship programming for that, but we will pretty soon. And then our plan is to run a fourth car at the Daytona 500. We’re working on some opportunities with that, and again we’ll announce that at a later date.

“If we can continue to run the fourth car past Daytona, we’re going to attempt to do that. But, as of right now, the plan is Daytona.”
