Rex Ryan to Coach New York Jets

Mets PoliceSenior Analyst IJanuary 20, 2009

Looks like Rex Ryan will be a good choice for the Jets.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert in NFL coordinators, but I know this—in all sports a good defense beats a good offense, and defense wins championships.   The Ravens had a good defense.  Yes you still need players, but players also need a leader to lead them to their potential.

Apparently Ryan is a firey guy. Good. The Jets could use that.  Grab some headlines. Be entertaining. Enjoy the back and forth with the media.  Look how well threatening to stab someone worked for Jerry Manuel.  Overnight he went from someone we weren't excited about to a really fun dude.

Ryan should consider punching Favre in the nose after his next interception.  It might just be the wakeup call this franchise needs.
