Pennant Signs: Would Christian Poulsen Be the Finishing Touch for Portsmouth?

Jermaine Pennant has signed on loan for the blues. This is a great signing for Portsmouth and sees us add a nice variety to our threat.

So what is on our wish list for the rest of January, presuming that we are not going to lose anyone else.

It seems that for some of the rest of the season, we maybe playing just Crouch up front. That's not my cup of tea, but if the support is good then it could be effective, especially if it leaves a free role for Kranjcar and he hits top form.

With that in mind, then maybe Crouch, Kanu, and Nugent with a supporting role from Niko could be enough.

The soft spot for me is a central midfield that's seen the loss of Diarra, Mendes and Muntari since we lifted the FA Cup, and we are now without Diop. I've nothing against either Davis or Hughes, but just feel we are a bit thin in the middle for what could become a tough battle.

If the rumours kicking around today are anything to go by, then maybe Adams agrees.  Patrick Viera's name has been linked to us; a nice thought, but I'm not sure I can quite see that coming off.

The other story that seems to have some legs is Christian Poulsen from Juventus. The News are reporting a loan deal is in place, and that Storie is in Turin to thrash out the details.

Pompey could be on the verge of securing two loans (Pennant and now Poulsen) for two players who not very long ago transferred for a total of over £15m, sounds like a nice piece of business.
