The Rock vs. John Cena Results: Highlights, Recap and More
It was a once in a lifetime match between two of the most popular wrestlers of their time. It was billed as an epic contest and the two men involved in the match delivered.
Let's move past the concerts before the match that helped build in the hype and move onto the match itself. The Rock and Cena started the only way they could, with a tie up displaying each man's strength. Cena won the first tie-up shoving The Rock into the corner.
From there, Cena went to work on The Rock's ribs, by dropping him chest first onto the announcer table and the barricade outside of the ring.
What was interesting in this match was that Cena was working the angle as the heel; as he controlled the match throughout putting The Rock on defense.
However, The Rock had Cena beat after applying a sharpshooter submission hold. Cena made the ropes forcing The Rock to break the hold.
After breaking the hold, Cena was able to regain the upper hand by putting The Rock in an STF almost making The Rock pass out. But, The Rock powered out of Cena's STF submission move breaking the hold and continuing the match.
The match looked to have come to an end after The Rock nailed a flying cross body block from the top rope. Except Cena caught The Rock and positioned him into an Attitude Adjustment. Cena nailed his finishing move only to see The Rock kick out at two!
Cena looking to steal one of The Rock's moves tried going for a People's Elbow. Only when Cena hit the ropes he was met by a Rock Bottom and the eventual end to his quest at taking down The Rock.
Winner by pin fall The Rock.
Post-match saw The Rock celebrating and Cena sulking on the entrance ramp as pyro went off around both men.
