During the celebrity game at this year's All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, Stuart Scott apparently forgot that he was talking to a black guy while interviewing Shaq.
He forgot to use any slang, and subsequently lost all of his "street cred."
Scott claims that he did not have sufficient time to prepare for the interview because right before talking to Shaq he interviewed three white people in a row.
Scott's camp has already began talking about taking legal action.
His contract with ESPN stipulates that he has a 30-minute grace period to shift his dialect from white to black or vice versa.
Alan Cheney, a representative of the network, claims that Scott “put himself in that position by spending the afternoon watching Seinfeld in his hotel room when he clearly knew that hewould be spending a considerable amount of time around black people that evening.”
The interview fell apart before it even got started, with Scott saying, “Hello Shaquille. How are you? It’s good to see you my friend.”
Shaq just stared back with a puzzled, angry look on his face. By this time, Scott realized his mistake.
“I mean, yo, what up big dog? What’s the deal son?” By that time, he knew that his cover had been blown.
He tried to get back on his feet by talking about how having one lazy eye makes him “gangsta”, but unfortunately he had forgotten to take off his glasses first. Gangstas don’t wear glasses.
His PR recovery plan includes wearing a throwback jersey during SportsCenter and appearing in the next Tyler Perry movie.
