Kansas City Chiefs and Herman Edwards Should Part Ways

While there are a few reasons that Kansas City should keep Head Coach Herm Edwards next season, I think getting rid of him now is the best thing to do.

What's the point of keeping Herman Edwards around for just one more season? How much will he be willing to do knowing that after this season, he will no longer be the Chiefs Head Coach?

Everyone argues that the young talent in Kansas City need Edwards to continue to build their skill sets. If they change coaches it will set them back. I tend to agree to a point on that. Yes they will have to learn a new system in a year, but why put that off? Why have them get set in a system for one more season just to have to change a season from now?

I say they just rid themselves of Herm Edwards now and start fresh with a new head coach and GM. General Manager Scott Pioli is in good shape for turning this team around with the third overall pick and somewhere between $30-$40 million in cap space. He does not need Herm Edwards to accomplish this. What he does need is a coach that is going to be around for seasons to come. The Chiefs will have struggles with or without Herm Edwards at the helm this season.

To close, bring in a fresh head coach to lead this team for years to come. Don't keep one around for one lame duck season. Herm Edwards had his chances and his tenure in Kansas City has run its course. Lets end this chapter of Chiefs history and start on a new one with Pioli and a new head coach.
