The English Premier League's summer transfer window is right around the corner and, as usual, transfer rumors surrounding Old Trafford are swirling.

Some are bigger than others, but many regard the defensive line and bringing in a new forward.

Always looking to keep the team in contention for a championship, Sir Alex Ferguson will bring in a new face or two before next season's campaign begins.

Fernando Llorente

Llorente has been linked with United in the past.

There is a chance that the Red Devils could rejuvenate links with the Athletic Bilbao forward again this summer, as they will be in search of an attacker.

Dante

The Express (via footballgossip.org) reported that Man U, among other clubs, have contacted Borussia Monchengladbach about defender Dante.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is a big, strong tackler that would help United’s central defense.

If Sir Alex Ferguson does make a move for Dante, he will have to beat out Bayern Munich and Anzhi Makhachkala.

Milos Krasic

United was reportedly close to bringing in Krasic on loan from Juventus in January.

As the number of teams linked with Krasic grows, so does the speculation that he will leave Juventus this summer.

Don’t rule out Fergie making a move for the Serbian winger come June.

Edinson Cavani

With Dimitar Berbatov leaving Manchester United this summer, Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to add another forward to his squad.

Cavani has shown good form again this season and will draw the interest of a number of clubs across Europe.

Gerard Pique

The former Red Devil could be on the move back to Old Trafford.

After a drop in form recently, manager Pep Guardiola left Pique on the bench for Barcelona’s match against Bayer Leverkusen last week.

United would be a good fit for Pique, but if he is indeed on the move, they will face competition for the Spaniard’s signature from a number of clubs, including rival Chelsea

Thiago Silva

Taken with a grain of salt, but according to Caught Offside, Sir Alex Ferguson has scouted Silva recently and could make a big offer for him.

Silva would improve Fergie’s defensive line, something that could be of concern very soon at Old Trafford, as Rio Ferdinand may leave after this season and Nemanja Vidic has been injured.

If the Brazilian international is willing to leave AC Milan, United will have a spot for him.

Demba Ba

As noted, Berbatov is set to leave Old Trafford at season’s end.

This season, Ba has scored 16 league goals, good for fourth in the Premiership.

Adding Ba to the fold with Wayne Rooney and Chicharito would make United’s attack even more dangerous.

Luka Modric

Modric has been linked to United, among other clubs, since last summer.

Tottenham would love to keep the Croatian, but it has been reported that he will not sign a new deal with Spurs until the manager situation is figured out.

Harry Redknapp is being eyed as the next manager for the England job and Modric is going to wait and see how if Redknapp will be back or not.

One thing going against United is that just last summer, Modric said a move to Chelsea would be a “dream.”

Wesley Sneijder

Sneijder has been linked to Old Trafford for quite some time now.

Last summer, Man U were the closest they have gotten to finalizing a deal for the Dutch international.

He has also hinted that he would be willing to make the move to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Earlier this month, a number of sources reported that Ronaldo wanted to return to the EPL.

It was reported that Ronaldo considers Sir Alex Ferguson as his mentor and he misses playing for United.

Aside from other Premier League clubs that may be interested in the Portuguese international, Ronaldo may only wish to play at Old Trafford.

He scored 118 goals in 292 appearances while at Man U, and has continued to find the back of the net since he moved to Real Madrid three years ago.

Eden Hazard

Many teams are after the young Belgian winger, including Manchester United.

Many sources report that he will most likely join Tottenham.  However, United still have a chance to compete with Spurs for Hazard’s services.
