AC Milan VS FC Barcelona

AC Milan and FC Barcelona will be facing each other in the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan Italy next week in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Milan have Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Pato in their ranks with Massimiliano Allegri as coach. FC Barcelona is expected to have Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez with Pep Guardiola managing the club in this most difficult match.

What can be expected between these two teams?

AC Milan

The President of AC Milan, Silvio Berlusconi, once commented that FC Barcelona wins on the basis of luck. Berlusconi forgot that AC Milan lost one match and the other against Barca ended in a draw in the earlier group stage.

AC Milan has the advantage with 15 appearances within the last eight UCL matches. The record of ten wins and four draws makes them a force to be reckoned with in the UCL.

The Rossoneri may be tempted to use the 4-3-1-2 formation, with Christian Abbiati as the goalkeeper. Pato and Ibrahimovic would be the forwards while Kevin-Prince Boateng, Alberto Aquillani, Massimo Ambrosini, and Mark Van Bommell are in midfield.

It is expected that AC Milan will attempt to find areas of weakness in FC Barcelona, but there is a problem for AC Milan on the horizon.

Allegri declared in an interview with Sky Sport Italia [h/t to Goal] that Thiago Silva (Defender) suffered an injury to his flexor muscle. The injury is expected to hurt AC Milan in the UCL.

FC Barcelona

La Blaugrana defeated AC Milan in one UCL match and drew in another. Barca surprised the UCL with its victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Messi scored five goals and Cristian Tello scored two over Leverkusen. Barca advanced rapidly in the UCL and is doing the same in La Liga.

La Blaugrana might use the 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 formation. Barca is expected to use Messi, Tello, Xavi, Iniesta, Gerard Pique, and Thiago Alcantara in this match.

Pep Guardiola may be tempted to include Javier Mascherano, Martin Montoya, Marc Bartra, and Marc Muniesa in this crucial match. We cannot forget Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez also

FC Barcelona is going to close ranks and not allow AC Milan any advantages. It is expected that they will be strong in defense as well as offense.

The only problems for Barca wll be the absence of Eric Abidal and Adriano in this crucial match. La Blaugrana has received a lot of positive news, especially Guardiola overseeing 600 goals since becoming manager.
