The WWE loves to leave lasting memories at their biggest show of the year, WrestleMania. Therefore, this year's show would provide the perfect spot for popular wrestler Rey Mysterio to make a surprise return.
Specifically, during the Teddy Long vs. John Laurinaitis 10-man tag team match.
Mysterio has been out for a number of months since undergoing knee surgery late in August.
However, according to PWInsider.com via 411mania.com, Mysterio could be healthy enough to participate in the 10-man tag match:
According to Pwinsider.com, the plan is for Team Laurinaitis to be: David Otunga, Christian, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. Team Long would be: Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, Great Khali, Ezekiel Jackson, R-Truth and another name to be announced. While it is not confirmed, it is believed that the final name will be the returning Rey Mysterio.
Even Mysterio has said that he hopes to be healthy enough to be in competition:
Rey Mysterio is hoping to be able to work WrestleMania 28, but he remains in therapy following knee reconstruction surgery.
"I'm trying to see if I can make it back by WrestleMania," Mysterio told WDFN radio in Detroit. "That's my main goal right now - make it back by WrestleMania."
When asked who he would like to face, Mysterio said "No one in particular" but added that he would like to be in the Money in the Bank match (assuming there is one).
When asked about a potential match against Sin Cara, Mysterio said, "I'm all up for it. As soon as my knee is ready and I can move the way I know I can move, I'm down."
From the looks of it, Mysterio is open to facing anyone at WrestleMania, as long as he can compete. Putting him in this tag match is the perfect way to ease Mysterio back into active action, while not forcing him to go full-speed right away.
Mysterio can come into the match and get a huge pop from the crowd in Florida. He can then hit his signature moves and even get a pinfall on someone like David Otunga.
Mysterio can then quickly get out of the match after taking a finisher from Christian or Dolph Ziggler. This way, Mysterio wouldn’t look weak in his return, but he would get in and out of the match quickly and avoid any chance of re-injuring his knee.
Mysterio wants to be in WrestleMania and the WWE has to find a way to get him involved. His return would be a big surprise and a great moment at the WWE’s biggest show.
