Big Ten Basketball, Indiana Hoosiers Basketball, Kelvin Sampson

As the Kelvin Sampson fiasco winds down, the Hoosiers are back on the road to try and keep their share of the conference regular season title. The real story behind this is the players. Everyone can see how Dan Dakich, interim head coach, and Sampson are feeling, but how are the players handling this whole thing?

DJ White, senior center, has shown his loyalty to Sampson by scribbling "KS" on his sneakers.

"It was just tough,'' Eric Gordon said of Sampson's resignation. “The decision had been made and we couldn't do nothing about it.''

At one point, it looked like the players might try something. When six players—D.J. White, Jamarcus Ellis, Jordan Crawford, DeAndre Thomas, Bassett, and McGee—skipped practice Friday afternoon, there was speculation they might boycott Saturday's game at Northwestern.

Many players, however, stated that this was never the plan.

After the Hoosiers' close win at Northwestern, Sampson texted each player to congratulate them.

This has been a huge step toward the recovery of the honor and integrity of the Indiana basketball program.

  1. D.J. White skipped the first practice under his new coach. This was poor judgement on his part and shows that team may fall apart.
