According to Fox's Jay Glazer, Tim Tebow is shipping off to New York to join the Jets. Word is that Denver received a fourth-round pick in compensation for Tebow. This deal may come as a surprise to many, since Mark Sanchez just received a multi-year extension with the Jets.

However, I'm not at all surprised by this move. It has been very clear that John Elway never was caught up in Tebowmania and was always looking to get rid of the former Florida star.

Now, with the signing of Peyton Manning, he did just that.

The Jets probably got the better end of the deal on this one. Denver invested a first-round pick in Tebow and only got a fourth-rounder back, despite his success last year.

The Jets, on the other hand, receive a guy who can fill the void left by Brad Smith in the Wildcat offense that they previously used to much success.

Frankly, Mark Sanchez isn't that good, so any amount of snaps Tebow takes that get Sanchez off the field will be a win for the Jets and can help them get back to the playoffs.

It remains to be seen how Tebow will fit in with Rex Ryan's eccentric style of coaching, but one thing is for sure: there will be a huge media firestorm over the coming days. Expect Skip Bayless to go insane as usual over this.

Stay tuned for updates.
