According to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen, USC's Mark Sanchez plans to announce Thursday that he will forgo his senior season to enter the NFL draft.
Sanchez, in his first full year starting for the Trojans, passed for 3,207 yards and 34 TDs, with a completion percentage of 65.8. He led USC to a 12-1 record, with the only loss coming on the road to Oregon State.
Sanchez had his best game of the year in the Rose Bowl against Penn State, going 28-for-35 with 413 yards and four TDs through the air, and adding another score on the ground. Having such a great game in his final performance might have pushed him over the edge in deciding to turn pro.
Currently, Scouts Inc. has Sanchez ranked at No. 10 overall in their rankings, and second at QB. However, now that Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford has announced that he is returning to school, Sanchez will move up a spot and be Scouts Inc.'s top rated QB as of today. Bradford's decision might have also played a part in Sanchez deciding to turn pro.
We will find out more details tomorrow, as according to ESPN, his announcement will occur Thursday on campus at USC's Heritage Hall.
