WWE Raw Preview: Cena vs Henry, Hell in a Cell, a Surprise from Rock and More
A new week has begun and that means a new week of professional wrestling.
As always the week starts out with WWE Monday Night Raw!
We’re on the road to WrestleMania and with the big event just two weeks away, things really should start picking up.
WWE has confirmed one match and an in-ring segment as of this writing but there a few more things to consider.
A tweet from the Rock about a surprise is something to consider as well.
Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy: Who Will the General Managers Choose for their Teams?
After a month of constant arguing between the Raw and SmackDown general managers about how the others show should be run, the WWE board of directors finally came up with a solution to shut them up.
They decided that both general managers would lead a team of six wrestlers in a 12-man tag team match at WrestleMania.
The winning team will get their general manager the job of running both Raw and SmackDown.
Last week on Raw, the WWE Universe discovered the first members for both teams.
Santino Marella will captain Team Teddy, while David Otunga will captain Team Johnny. Mark Henry then joined up with Mr. Excitement putting Team Johnny at quite the advantage.
Teddy Long then announced that R-Truth was joining his team and then on SmackDown, Christian joined up with Johnny Ace while Kofi Kingston joined Teddy.
With WrestleMania two weeks away, each team still needs three more members.
Who Will John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long get to join their teams?
When Kane lost to John Cena he needed a new target to terrorize. He found that target in Randy Orton.
While the Apex Predator put up a good fight, the Big Red Monster took him out.
Orton was never one to go down without a fight, though, and would hit an RKO on Kane twice, on both Raw and SmackDown.
After a bit of mind games from Kane, Orton wanted to know why he was picked to be hunted. Kane obliged his request and revealed that he went on the attack because he shook Orton’s hand last summer.
According to him that made him human, which he was no more.
He wanted to end Orton on the biggest stage of the year and the match was made for WrestleMania.
As the big event approaches, what does Kane have planned for Randy Orton? Will the Apex Predator become the hunter?
End of an Era: The Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels to Meet in the Ring
Last year at WrestleMania, the WWE Universe saw something they have never seen. They saw the Undertaker being carted out of the ring while his opponent, Triple H, walked out on his own power.
The Deadman disappeared after that and wouldn’t return until the night after the Royal Rumble.
He made his intentions clear; he wanted Triple H one more time at WrestleMania.
The Game originally denied his challenge but after some persuading from Shawn Michaels as well as the Phenom, the Cerebral Assassin agreed to the match under one condition.
Triple H declared that he and the Undertaker were a dying breed and that if they were going to end an era, they needed to end it big.
Triple H wanted Hell in a Cell to which the Undertaker accepted the stipulation.
Since then, Shawn Michaels has appeared on Raw two weeks in a row to inform Triple H that he was going to be the referee for the match and to confront the Undertaker, stating that he could still be the man to end the streak.
This week all three men will appear in the ring at the same time.
What will happen when these combustible elements meet face-to-face?
A Bombshell Was Dropped: What’s Next for CM Punk and Chris Jericho?
Unlike the Undertaker, Chris Jericho didn’t make his intentions clear upon his return. In fact, he was mostly silent.
He didn’t utter a word until just before the Royal Rumble, when he said that the world as we knew it would be coming to an end, implying that he was going to win the Rumble.
Upon losing the match, Y2J finally made his intentions clear when he attacked CM Punk.
Jericho declared that Punk was just a Y2J wannabe and wasn’t the best in the world. Jericho was the best in the world and wanted to shut him up and put him in his place.
Punk responded by knocking Jericho out cold at the Elimination Chamber PPV but Jericho got some revenge by becoming the No. 1 contender for Punk’s WWE Championship.
The battle for “Best in the World” is on for WrestleMania and the feud has been about even until last Monday.
Last week, Jericho dropped a bombshell on the WWE Universe and definitely upset the champion.
Jericho revealed that Punk’s father was an alcoholic and that Punk acts the way he does because he’s trying to hide a demon inside of him.
Will Chris Jericho continue to play mind games with CM Punk—or will the WWE champion gain some revenge?
John Cena vs. Mark Henry
For the first time in a while, WWE has confirmed a match for Monday Night Raw in advance.
Both John Cena and Mark Henry have very different things going on in their careers right now.
John Cena has the biggest match of his career coming up at WrestleMania against the Rock and has been entangled in quite the war of words with the People’s Champion.
Mark Henry, on the other hand, will be the muscle for Team Johnny in the 12-man tag team match at WrestleMania.
They are going to have to try to concentrate on each other, though, as they go one-on-one this week on Raw.
What will happen as these two forces collide? Will anyone from Team Teddy or Team Johnny get involved? Will the Rock play a role in this match somehow?
The Rock Promises a Surprise: What Does He Have in Store for the Fans?
The Rock returned to the WWE about a year ago but only made the occasional appearance.
With WrestleMania right around the corner, the People’s Champion has been appearing more regularly on Monday Night Raw.
For the past couple of weeks he and John Cena have been having a war of words, the likes of the WWE Universe has never seen.
The momentum has shifted back-and-forth between the two superstars but it’s all in the corner of the Hollywood superstar right now thanks to his Rock Concert last week.
The Rock will once again be appearing on Raw this week and according to this tweet, he has a surprise for the WWE Universe.
What will this surprise be? Will he just make fun of John Cena again or does the Rock really have something special planned for Raw?
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw is shaping up to be quite the good one.
Will it be? Tune in to find out!
