Packing for Vegas: College Basketball Betting Picks Jan. 14

In the famous words of Dennis Green, "They are who we thought they were!" That's really all I can say about the Memphis Tigers, who failed to cover last night because, well, they aren't that good. They especially stink from the line, where they went 11-25 yesterday. That, my friends, is the difference between a one-point win and a cover.

Tonight, I'm backing a well-rounded squad that shouldn't cause nearly as much frustration. I'm taking Wake Forest -4 at Boston College. I'm aware this has the potential to be a huge let down game for Wake, but the Deacs are determined to win this one. Check this out, from an article written after Wake's win vs. Carolina:

Gaudio told his players to enjoy the win over Carolina, but then immediately turned to his assistant to ask for the BC stats. The Deacons have never beaten the Eagles, posting an 0-7 record that Gaudio has memorized.

"To me, the BC game is a lot bigger than this game," Johnson said. "We've never beaten them, and they always tough people out. They beat North Carolina. If we go up to Boston and beat them, then that will be a bigger win than this one."

Talk doesn't mean much, but at least it shows they are focused. And BC is coming off losses to Harvard and Miami at home.
