Although the Viking's can't announce their trade until Friday, it's known all over the football world.
Wide receiver Troy Williamson will be traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a second-day draft pick.
Williamson was plagued by dropped balls last year and the only thing that held other teams interest was his incredible speed.
Williamson has a connection in Jacksonville as former Minnesota Vikings head coach, Mike Tice, is currently a Jacksonville assistant coach. Tice was the head coach of the Vikings when they used their first round pick in 2005 to draft Williamson.
Williamson was drafted as the seventh overall pick in the 2005 draft and has been a huge disappointment so far in his career. Jaguar fans hope that their team can make use of his great speed, and hope that his hands get better.
I was going through the comment section on ESPN, and one fan had this to say regarding Williamson:
"The only guy with worse hands than Williamson is Kwame Brown."
Ouch. That's quite a statement. Here are some more comments concerning Williamson:
"This is a STEAL for the Jags. A 6th round choice for a young guy who still has first round player potential. He'll do much better with David throwing him the ball. David G is a million times better QB than Tavaris Jackson."
"Anyone who says Williamson isn't a bust is nuts. The Vikings used the 7th pick in the draft to select him. Their return investment is a 6th round pick. That has BUST all over it! He may go down to Jacksonville and become a stud but he is and forever will be a BUST for the Vikings."
"Wow. I'm amazed a team took him. I thought for sure he would be playing CFL ball after this season. Although, depending on how many times the ball is thrown to him, that could still happen."
As for me, I am just glad that the Vikings got something out of Williamson and I wish him the best of luck in Jacksonville.
And wasn't Tom Brady drafted in the sixth round? Hey, anything can happen!

I think this obviously means they'll be using their first round pick on a wide receiver.

No it doesn't. At least, I hope it doesn't.
There are way more option available through free agency, and I hope that they choose to go that way with their WR problems.
They can use their first rounder for a secondary playmaker, like Kenny Phillips.

My question is....what does Jacksonville want with Troy Williamson?

Although I don't think the Jags really needed a WR, this is still a steal. Troy proved to be a consistent WR, and alongside fellow Gamecock Sidney Rice, they became more productive towards the end of the year. This does nothing but make the Vikings younger than they already are. Why can't the Minnesota organization understand that it's a QUARTERBACK that they need?

I refuse to believe that the Vikings need a quarterback. I still am adamant that Jackson is the way to go. Even if you have to wait one more year, he will still be a top 10 quarterback later in his career, I think.

Troy Williamson has always reminded me of the Clifford Franklin, Orlando Jone's character in the movie "The Replacements". He's fast as hell but can't catch a ball to save his life.

Good article although I hardly would classify this as Vikings NEWS

Okay, basically the first four paragraphs are the only news in this piece.
