Former Blue Devil Reggie Love Now in Politics

John LewisSenior Writer IFebruary 26, 2008

You might not remember Reggie Love, but he was an enforcer on the 2005 ACC champion Duke Blue Devils.  Now, he's an enforcer for presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama.

You read it right.  Love is the point man for one of the more compelling presidential candidates in modern history.  And when he's not returning telephone calls, prepping his boss for television appearances, and leading the wagons on the campaign trail, he's scrimmaging with Obama in pick-up games.

"He said Obama has a quick first step and gets his shot off easily because he's left-handed.  'He's wiry looking, but he's actually pretty strong,' Love said.  And he hates losing.  He plays hard."

The only thing that could make this story better is if Love crafted chant sheets for Obama supporters.  What better campaign cry against Clinton could there be but "Not our rival!"?

See, sport is an extension of life.
