Yes, this is a retraction. I apologize to all Mariner fans for forgetting to put Ken Griffey Jr. on my roster and a couple other changes.
Jack Zduriencik, please trade Ichiro Suzuki.
We can do better than this. You've made all the right moves so far, but after this one I will be very satisfied. Ichiro in pinstripes is just waiting to happen.
I even have the hard work done for you. All you need to do is make a phone call.
New York receives: Ichiro Suzuki and Aaron Heilman
Seattle receives: Xavier Nady, Alfredo Aceves, and Brian Bruney
I would also like the signing of Ken Griffey Jr. to happen.
Trade Jarrod Washburn to the Milwaukee Brewers for prospects.
Here is how your team would then look, Mr. Zduriencik:
C. Jeff Clement/ Kenji Johjima (Depends on spring training)
1B. Russell Branyan
2B. Jose Lopez
3B. Adrian Beltre
SS. Yuniesky Betancourt
RF. Xavier Nady
CF. Franklin Gutierrez
LF. Endy Chavez/ Wladamir Balentein
DH. Ken Griffey Jr./ Jeff Clement
SP. Felix Hernandez
SP. Erik Bedard
SP. Brandon Morrow
SP. Ryan Rowland-Smith
SP. Alfredo Aceves
RP. Carlos Silva
RP. Brian Bruney
RP. Roy Corcocan
RP. Mark Lowe
RP. Tyler Walker
CL. Miguel Batista
That is a dominant team Mr. Zduriencik. It has depth. When you have an injury at catcher, you have Johjima to replace him and then you could go down to the minors to pick up Rob Johnson or Jamie Burke.
When you have an injury at first base, you could fill Branyan's spot with Shelton, Morse, Clement or even Mike Carp if you had to. Jose Lopez is even an option and then move Corona to second base. Bryan Lahair is just one more of many options.
An injury at second would be simple, place Reggie Corona there until Lopez recovers.
Over at third is Beltre, Branyan, Corona and down in Tacoma, Matt Tuiasosopo.
Shortstop is an easy one. Reggie Corona can handle the job, and if both get injured you could look into Mike Morse again.
The outfield is numerous with Nady, Gutierrez, Chavez, Balentein, Morse and Ken Griffey Jr.
Two of the relievers can be starters if they get injured again, and you have plenty of young relievers to cover them.
Your team would be absolutely solid, Mr. Zduriencik. Just please don't trade the future core of the team.
