New England Patriots

A competition is brewing for the services of free-agent safety LaRon Landry, and the Patriots are in the market for him as well as wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, according to two separate reports from Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

And for a look at all the early action, we turn to B/R Patriots featured columnist Oliver Thomas, who takes stock of the few small moves the Patriots have made.

New York Jets

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets could be looking to reunite with free-agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery. This rumor, coupled with earlier rumors that Braylon Edwards could possibly return, have me thinking the Jets realized their big mistake in depriving quarterback Mark Sanchez of his most familiar weapons.

Via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Mehta also has the story on Brandon Meriweather visiting the Jets. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are hopefully crossing their fingers as we speak.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have offered to make Mario Williams the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL, yet even still, Williams elected to sleep on it before making a decision.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says that all eyes are on Buffalo as they await an answer from Williams. We'll likely know the answer by the end of the day as to whether or not the star defensive end will join them.

Miami Dolphins

Paul Soliai was re-signed, and although he's played nose tackle in a 3-4 in the past, he'll now be asked to contribute as a 4-3 tackle. B/R featured columnist James Dudko has thoughts on how Soliai could fit in the Dolphins' new-look 4-3 defense.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald asks a question many high schoolers will ask themselves today: "Do you like me as much as I like you?" in regard to Manning joining the turquoise and orange fish.
