After eighth-seed Butler and 11th-seed VCU crashed the 2011 Final Four, the annual hunt for potential Cinderella stories takes on even greater significance this March. A first-round upset might be no more than the prelude to another sensational tournament run for some overachieving underdog.

Sometimes, of course, the glass slipper winds up on the other foot. Wichita State, representing a Missouri Valley Conference that has produced its share of upsets over the years, not only comes in as a first-round favorite…but even finds itself at that most upset-prone spot on the bracket, the No. 5 seed.

Even with the Shockers removed from the underdog ranks, though, there will be plenty of upsets to be found in the first week’s worth of games.

Which favorites drew the toughest matchups in the early going? Take a look at this compilation of double-digit seeds—one from each region, plus a bonus team from the bottom-heavy South—with the best chances to keep dancing into the Sweet 16 or even beyond.
