Clemson 2-0 In ACC After 63-51 Victory Over NC State; Tigers Move Up to No. 9/10
Clemson University has quietly moved to No. 9 in the ESPN/USA TODAY Poll and No. 10 in the AP, after a 63-51 victory over NC State.
Clemson, 16-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC, led 24-17 at the half and went on to outscore the Wolfpack 39-34 in the second half to secure the win. NC State did tie the game with 16:34 to go in the second half at 31-31 on a lay-up by Courtney Fells. After a Trevor Booker lay-up for the Tigers and a lay-up by the Wolfpack's Trevor Ferguson, the score was tied again at 33-33. Clemson then went on a 24-10 run to put the game away.
The Tigers were led by Booker with 23, K.C. Rivers with nine and Tanner Smith with seven. NC State got 10 from Fells, nine from Brandon Costner, and eight from Julius Mays.
Coach Oliver Purnell has Littllejohn Coliseum fans excited again and they should be. The Tigers are one of only three teams left in the NCAA that are undefeated. His 16-0 record is the second time he has led his team to that mark in three seasons.
