Wake Forest at Boston College

Wednesday, 9:00 pm

The "We Beat North Carolina Cry" doesn't ring as far and wide for Boston College as it did a week ago. Not after Wake Forest beat the Tar Heels on Sunday and the Eagles couldn't escape cross-town foe Harvard at home.

A young Wake club, led by head coach Dino Gaudio, has been terrific shooting the ball, making more than 51 percent of its shots from the field. The Deacons also play pretty stingy defense, having allowed just 36 percent shooting from their opponents thus far.

Just like their football team, BC plays smart on offense, giving the ball up just 13 times per game on turnovers. Wake has forced 18 turnovers per game thus far, but the Deacons have played the 141st-ranked schedule.

However, the Deacons have not beaten Boston College in their last seven tries. I think Wake may fall victim to celebrating the UNC win a little too long and, as a result, an upset on the road.

Boston College wins in an upset.

Season: 0-0 SU

Being on the road at BC is not as likely to be as big of a test as being on the road against BYU. In that contest, Wake Forest broke BYU's 55 home game winning streak. If Wake could step up to that kind of pressure on the road, they should be able to handle a trip up the East Coast. They just need to play their game and they should be fine. As far as still being on the high of the UNC win, I think this team demonstrates a little more level headedness than that. It seems they handle each opponent one game at a time. They are focused and that's what makes them so good to be so young of a team.

We will find out this tonight. The win over UNC was Wake's biggest of the year by far for a young team.

"There was no hangover from North Carolina. We were too focused on this game," Teague said. "They beat us by more than 30 points last year. We remember that. We came out early and set the tone."

Now the next test is Duke.
