WWE Monday Night Raw (3/12/12) Results: Live Blog, Coverage and Analysis
Hey, Bleachers, this is the live blog for the March 12, 2012 edition of the WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow.
WWE Raw hits the airwaves live from the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH, where the "Rock Concert" will clash with John Cena's rapping, taking the war of words between Cena and the Rock to a new level.
WrestleMania is fast approaching, and anticipation for John Cena vs. the Rock has escalated over the past few weeks. Tonight should prove to be no different.
There's been a bit of a lull in hype between CM Punk and Chris Jericho, with their feud failing to develop much at all last week. Expect WWE to pick up the pace on this feud over the WWE Championship again tonight.
Shawn Michaels will make an appearance to address the Undertaker, after revealing to Triple H that he is now the special guest referee for their match at WrestleMania.
The night looks to be stacked with big names and tons of potential, as it should be with the biggest night in wrestling coming on April 1st!

The Rock comes out, guitar in hand.
He's pointing at his goosebumps again. The crowd is incredibly hot for him as he works his intro.
No concert yet, he's just cutting a promo on Cena, and saying that must not have been Cene, because what they're used to is what looks like Vanilla Ice hooked up with a Teletubby. Teletubby jokes folks, it's like we're in 98' all over again.
Finally on to the concert, song is "Let's Rock".
"Everybody's happy, you're listenin' to me, not some whack Eminem wannabe."
On to a story about speaking to Cena's doctor, where Cena wants a rectal exam. Really.
Now Rock says he saw Cena kissing Eve, rubbing on her thighs, and guesses he didn't tell her that he had a wife.
All true stories, mind you...says Rocky. He closes with a bit on the birth of Cena, punch line is "lady parts".
Rock is done, and he asks if there are any GROWN MEN who are John Cena fans. There's a few that he can spot, and now has a bit for them, calling them all 42 year old virgins.
Now he has one for the ladies, and he has a very special lady he'd like to dedicate this one to. He's see her tonight...it's Cena's mom.
Rock now does a "We will rock you" that has the lyrics playing on the titantron, he doesn't know them, and is messing up. This is embarrassing. I expect so much more from The Rock. That's a wrap folks.

Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger:
Randy Orton manages to escape an ankle lock late in the match, which has been mostly forgettable. Orton hits a superplex, and if I'm hearing correctly, Michael Cole said Randy "doesn't do that often". Right.
Orton hits the hanging DDT, begins to pound the mat, and hits Swagger with the RKO, and that's a wrap.
Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger via Pinfall.
Kane's pyro hits as Orton is ready to celebrate, the red lights up. Orton looks around for Kane, but can't find him, ending the segment.
Another recap of John Cena's rap, and The Rock is up next.
CM Punk vs. The Miz:
Miz is in control early on, and after an early commercial break, we return to see Punk fighting his way free. Punk starts hitting his signature moves, but Miz fights his way free from a GTS attempt.
Miz gets a near fall after the DDT, and climbs to the top rope. Punk dodges, and goes for the GTS, Miz escapes, and looks for the Skullcrushing Finale, but Punk counters into the Anaconda Vice, and Miz taps.
CM Punk def. The Miz via Submission.
Jericho comes on screen, and he congratulates Punk for the win, and tells him to enjoy the wins while he can. He goes on to say that he's got dirt on Punk, regarding him being a straightedge.
Jericho says that Punk's father was an alcoholic, and that's why Punk is straightedge. Punk looks bothered by this, and Jericho goes on to say that alcohol is in Punk's blood.
Jericho wants to leave Punk a broken man, and wants it to lead to Punk becoming an alcoholic. Woah, that's a little...dark.
Jericho wants to be recognized for what he is, the best in the world, and wants Punk to be recognized for what he is, and who his father was...a pathetic drunk. The crowd supports Punk as he looks devastated in the ring.
Great shot of Punk walking up the ramp slowly, holding the WWE Championship low. I didn't expect this kind of a turn in the story, nor did I expect such good use of body language from Punk, who relies so heavily on mic work.
Shawn Michaels comes on out, and recaps what went down between him and Triple H last week.
Shawn says no one has come to his face and called him a failure, or a loser for his loss to the Undertaker...but one man hasn't been around to say it, and that's the Dead Man himself. He calls down the Undertaker, and sure enough, here he comes.
Shawn says that during the entire time of working together, they've always respected each other. Those last two years, they shared something with each other few men share, talking about their WrestleMania matches. Shawn would never expect Undertaker to say things behind his back.
Undertaker asks if Shawn believes he really said those things, or if Triple H only led him to believe he said them. Then, he says Shawn is the one who has to deal with these insecurities.
Shawn stops him, and says Undertaker is the one who is at 19-0 at WrestleMania, and still trying to prove himself.
Undertaker says he's ready, come whatever may, but he's not going to let Shawn's ego get in the way of destiny. He wants the outcome to be pure, and if it's not pure, he promises that there will be hell to pay.
Shawn says it's just ironic, that the man who's career Undertaker ended, is the one who can end Undertaker's now...the one who can end the streak. Undertaker grabs Shawn as he goes to leave, and says that he'll beat Triple H in the cell, and end the era. But if Shawn doesn't let it happen, Undertaker will end Shawn Michaels.
Shawn jerks away, looking as if he's almost ready to hit the Sweet Chin Music, but instead just pats Undertaker's arm and leaves. Triple H comes out as Shawn is leaving, they trade a glance, and then Triple H stares at Taker from the top of the ramp.
Hunter hits the crotch chop and heads backstage as well.
CM Punk vs. The Miz is up next.
Brodus Clay vs. Jinder Mahal:
Jinder ambushes the Funkasaurus, but it's all in vain. A headbutt, throw, and body splash is all it takes to put Jinder away.
Brodus Clay def. Jinder Mahal via Pinfall.
Shawn Michaels is coming out to talk to the Undertaker, they'll be in the ring, next!
Zack Ryder catches Eve Torres in the hallway, and asks what her deal is, and if she's playing him.
Eve says he's playing himself. She wants to just be friends...with benefits. Zack is going to take her out to dinner later tonight. Beth Phoenix walks up, Eve shoos Ryder away. Beth mentions wanting to have Zack wrapped around her finger as well, Eve says she wouldn't like that and walks off.
There's a bit with The Miz and the Psych guy talking to Laurinaitis about getting Miz on his WrestleMania team. Laurinaitis says Miz is in if he can win his match tonight...against CM Punk.
Brodus Clay is coming up next! Somebody call my momma, etc.
John Laurinaitis comes out, and will be on commentary for the upcoming mixed tag team match.
Santino Marella vs. David Otunga & Mark Henry:
This was supposed to be a mixed gender tag team match, where Santino would team with Aksana, but Laurinaitis changed the match. Santino and Otunga are team leaders for their respective teams in the Long/Laurinaitis feud.
Teddy comes out and gets Aksana, and ends up pushing down Laurinaitis.
Mark Henry hits Santino with the World's Strongest Slam, and it's all over. Henry takes Santino's Cobra and throws it into the crowd.
David Otunga & Mark Henry def. Santino via Pinfall.
Laurinaitis announces that Mark Henry is part of his team.
We then get a package of The Miz backstage on the set of Psych, followed by a recap of Cena's rap.
Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler:
Only ten minutes into Raw and we're getting some wrestling. That's a nice change.
Before the first commercial break, Sheamus is dominating. We return to find more of the same, with Sheamus reversing a hip toss into a hip toss of his own, throwing Ziggler over the top rope and onto the floor.
Ziggler scurries under the ring as Sheamus comes out and yells at Vickie. Ziggler pops out behind Sheamus, and drop kicks him. Sheamus ends up hitting the table shortly after, there's a huge bruise formed on his back and it's nasty! He's slow to get up, but the damage appears to be aesthetic.
There's a mid match interview with Daniel Bryan and AJ, and Bryan defends his actions from last week, where he told AJ to "shut up". AJ says it wasn't a big deal, and Bryan drops the "AJ loves me," line.
Back in the ring, Sheamus and Ziggler are going at it. Pins by both men, and Ziggler appears to have the advantage, but eats a Brogue Kick from the Irishman, who then ends the match with a pin.
Sheamus def. Dolph Ziggler via Pinfall.
We hear that Team Long vs. Team Laurinaitis has been announced for WrestleMania, and both GM's have a segment coming up next.
Jerry Lawler is in the ring, letting the world know that tonight is the first Rock and Rap concert. Right out the gate, John Cena is coming out to dish out some thuganomics.
Old school John Cena, from the music, to the look, the Doctor of Thuganomics is in the building, and starts the rapping.
Cena is tearing Rock apart, touching on the wrist notes, and says while The Rock might be G.I. Joe this summer, right now he's a G.I. Joke. Cena is wasting him, says he'll give Rocky a Cleveland steamer, and brings up how the crowd was chanting "Toothfairy" last week.
Cena ends the rap by saying he might not have balls, but after April 1st, he's going to put his nuts (a package of peanuts) right in Rock's face.
Cena is done, and we move to Vickie Guerrero coming out and working the mic, introducing Dolph Ziggler. He'll be facing...Sheamus! That's a shame for Ziggler.
Their match is coming up next.
WWE Monday Night Raw is live! Coverage of the opening segment is coming up next.
