According to WWE.com, a huge 12 man tag-team match has been announced for WrestleMania XXVIII.
The WWE Board of Directors released a statement regarding the tensions between RAW General Manager John Laurinaitis and SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long. The statement can be viewed here.
The Board of Directors stated that Long and Laurinaitis will choose the members for their respective teams and whichever team wins, the general manager in charge of that team will be awarded with the managing duties of both RAW and SmackDown.
According to PWInsider.com (click link at your own risk may contain malware), it’s rumoured that WWE superstars Jack Swagger, Christian, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler and David Otunga will represent Team Laurinaitis.
Rumoured to represent Team Long are Santino Mariella, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali, Ezekiel Jackson, R-Truth and another WWE Superstar that has not been named as of yet.
PWInsider is speculating that the sixth superstar could be either be Rey Mysterio or Evan Bourne, but along with the other WWE superstars that may participate, it has not been confirmed.
For years the WWE used the battling general managers scenario on several occasions. Hopefully this WrestleMania match will finally put this silly storyline to rest, and the WWE can focus on doing what needs to be done: putting more of the younger WWE superstars on television.
