With the feud between current general managers John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long, the WWE Board of Directors have announced there will be a past rumored “winner-takes-all” match for control of both Raw and Smackdown.
WWE announced moments ago that SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long and RAW Interim GM John Laurinaitis will each choose six superstars to compete in a 12-Man tag team match at WrestleMania, with the General Manager of the winning team becoming the permanent GM for both shows. Both men are expected to choose their teams in the coming weeks.
Instead of having an awesome Money in the Bank ladder match on the card at WrestleMania, we will have a tag team match, even though having something on the line, that will likely be long forgotten amongst the other great matches during the event.
After the announcement on WWE.com, it was reported that the teams would consist of Mark Henry, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga and Jack Swagger for Johnny Ace against Teddy Long’s team of Ezekiel Jackson, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, the Great Khali for some reason and the new United States Champion, Santino Marella in addition to one more superstar.
It would be awesome to see the former WWE Champion, Rey Mysterio, finally makes his return to the ring after being on the shelf due to an injury to be the sixth and final member of the team backing Teddy Long in his bid to be GM for both shows.
Even though most will be pulling for Long in the match, I believe that Laurinaitis will win the match and continue his rise as the heel authority figure for both shows for the foreseeable future.
So Bleachers, will this massive 12-man tag team match with control of Raw and Smackdown on the line be a great match or a flop on the card at this year’s WrestleMania?
