NFL Draft Preview 2009: Which Defensive Players to Trade Up For?

Jersey Al Bracco@JerseyAlGBPSenior Analyst IJanuary 11, 2009

If your favorite NFL team has a top 10 pick, you have a good chance at landing one of these three players. If not, and your defense is in desperate need of immediate help, these are the guys to go try and trade-up for.

1) Rey Maualuga, OLB, USC– the next Troy Polamalu, but at linebacker. Plays with crazy passion. Here’s a recent quote: “I want to become the player that the offense game plans around, that the offense fears coming into the game." If he doesn’t go in the top five, he will be a steal for someone."

2) Malcom Jenkins, CB, Ohio State – Has it all – size, speed, instincts, big-play ability. An impact corner. Can start this year for almost any team.

3) Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest – Great size and speed, good vs. the run or pass. Built for NFL stardom.

If your team can land one of these three guys, your defense just got a lot better.
