Nnamdi Asomugha Likely to Remain an Oakland Raider

Make no mistake about it: Nnamdi Asomugha is a top tier corner. He possesses superior coverage skills, above average intelligence, and comes with great character to boot.

What more could you ask for in a player?

So let us put this rumor to bed once and for all. There is no way Al Davis lets Nnamdi wear anything other than silver and black next year. Mark it down. Put it out of your head, and begin to think of more sane topics like a possible relocation of the Raiders to Gnome, Alaska.

Many draft speculators have formed a consensus that the Raiders will select CB Malcolm Jenkins with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft because of the presumed certainty that Nnamdi is fed up and will walk.

First, I don’t think Asomugha is as fed up with the Raiders as he is fed up with losing. Just the quality you are looking for when you are trying to turn around a floundering franchise.

Second, Asomugha will be franchise-tagged if he doesn't sign a long-term contract.

The only way Nnamdi Asomugha wears another jersey is if he is traded, and the asking price will be steep. Much too salty for another franchise to bite. By trading the All-Pro cornerback, the Raiders would open a huge hole in their roster.

The last time I checked, Al’s prized slogan was “Just win, baby.” If there is any way that Mr. Davis can stomp Asomugha's contract under the salary cap he will do it. Al may have his detractors, but they can‘t say he doesn‘t try to sign the best players.

Nnamdi Asomugha certainly fits that description.

So buy your Asomugha jersey with confidence, Raider fans. The chance of being stuck with the equivalent of a Moss jersey is between slim and none.

I already have a Asomugha jersey. The $200 one too. Everyday I look at it & say please stay Nnamdi. Don't waste my $200 please. I bought the jersey 2 seasons ago along with a Michael Huff jersey (Big Mistake). I know that my Huff jersey is about become a worthless rag just like my Randy Moss jersey became in 2007. I buy these $200 jerseys then F/A comes around & I'm left stuck with a worthless rag. It's the thing that I hate most about F/A. Besides the fact that you draft a guy & it takes a few seasons for that player to develop into a good player & then BOOM! he's gone to F/A. I hate Free Agency!!! I've also invested in the following jerseys at $200 a pop. Jamarcus Russell/ Darren McFadden/ Zach Miller/ Kirk Morrison & Thomas Howard. However I do agree that Nnamdi Asomugha will remain a Raider whether it be by long term contract or the franchise tag. No team will trade for him. Any team that is willing to trade for Asomugha will have to give the Raiders 2 1stRound picks & then sign him to a ton of money on top of it. The Raiders should just keep franchise tagging him every year if he won't sign long term. And if he doesn't want to sign the franchise tag contract...then we teach him a lesson & trade him to the Lions!LOL. Yeah Nnamdi you think Oakland loses alot? Off to the Lions you go! Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!

Steve, you could always fix the problem like a friend of mine did. He got the Moss, and when Moss went south, he switched the numbers, had the Moss taken off, and then put BROWN on it.
Might also be why I invest in Jerseys like the Hendricks I wear....their place in history is solid...Although, I am tempted now to go get a Gallery. Sure has turned it around since he found his proper position.

Did someone smell something? Ah yes, Symbiotic....also known as a chronic troll, who keeps getting his comments banned for being both annoying, and of no value.
Should we go over his problems?
First of all, he has no loyalty to his own team, but instead has to attack Raider fans.
Second, if he's kicked sideways, and too much information comes in, he'll call you a double posting loser.
Thirdly, if you ask for some proof, he'll cook up some stuff, about how he got evidence in some alternate galaxy with elvis and his sister.
Lastly, if you ask him where all his posts of wisdom are, he can't find them, because there hasn't been any, in the 200 accounts he's created, and then had deleted.
Short and sweet...loserville. Most of the people either ignore him, and let the site ban him, or we keep him around to laugh at, because he's so pathetic.
I don't think i'll ever get so depressed that I can't write about the Raiders....simply because they are my team....unlike Symbiotic, who has no team.

    Hi real,

Wow that is quite an investment you have going there. You know the way players hop these days, maybe you could store them in mothballs and drag them out when they come back, or make the Hall.

I can't believe how many reads I've seen saying that no way Nnamdi comes back. That would be insane to let a top young player go without a major payoff. Nnamdi wasn't always dominant. It took him a little while do develop, there is no way you just let him walk after he turns into a shutdown corner. Especially when you will have to go out and replace him immediatley with lesser talent. I could that happening with some teams, but not the Raiders.

    Thanks for commenting!

    Raider D,

Or should I say cousin D. I think I saw another Richardson floating around somewhere also. I guess we are everywhere.

I'm surprised how many think our best player is just going to walk away.

I'm off to read your articles and see what another Richardson has to say.

    Thanks for commenting!

Its hilarious that you threw the part about the jersey in the end because I love what Nnamdi has done for the raiders, who he's been for the raiders, and how the Raiders drafted/developed him. With that said I bought the moss jersey a year before he came out of the closet and went to new england. Sure I can get a high profile mccfadden or russell jersey but I've wanted a asomugha jersey for a while. Never got it because he was franchised and it c wood written all over it. So lately I've been searching articles to see where my boys at. And according to you it looks good.

      Hey David, thanks for commenting!

Now your putting the pressure on me. Just kidding, I just don't think even Nnamdi is thinking there is any way he is changing addresses this year. If I were him, I would be looking for a long term deal with the Raiders, because they have been rebuilding for the past 3-4 years. Raider fans don't know it, because we were spoiled for so long, but this is what it looks like. I think we are going to see some players come on next year e.g. Trevor Scott, Jay Richardson (great name by the way), and of course Mcfadden, Bush, Russell etc.

Nnamdi Asomugha can't really do anything if you think about it. He could just sign the long term deal. He could be franchise Tagged again. He could refuse to sign the franchise tag & hope a team will trade 2 1st round picks for him & be willing to pay him a ton of cash. He could just play like shit so the Raiders wouldn't want him. But we all know that Al Davis like to give 7 year deals to players who play like shit.LOL (Like Javon Walker/ Tommy Kelly & Terdell Sands)Playing like shit would just get him a huge deal from the Raiders. Ha Ha Ha! There's no escape Nnamdi! Franchised 4 Life! And if he can't deal with that then we trade him somewhere where he has no effect on us. Like the Detroit Lions. We'll trade him to the Lions for a Bologna sandwich. Ha Ha Ha! Or he could always consider suicide. Raider 4 life Nnamdi...deal with it.

WRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOONGGGGGGGGG!!!!! Symbiotic your wrong there partner. I kow that you always think that your right but your definitely wrong here Mr. Wise & all knowing. Charles Woodson had his leg broken in his last season with the Raiders. DE Tyler Brayton fell on Woodson's leg breaking it & causing Woodson to miss the rest of the season. The Raiders figured that Woodson was done & they let him walk when his franchise tag contract was up. Cheer up Symbiotic or Symbosis whatever your handle is this week. Maybe you'll be right on your next post. Go back under your rock where you came from & try again tomorrow under a new handle like you always do. Bye Bye Now:)

Yeah it's only 1 game but I still went & saw them. WRRRRROOOOOOOOONGGGGGGG AGAIN Symbosis-tic!!!!! Stick with harassing Raider Card. I'm too smart for you dude.

It's pretty messed up Symbiotic/Symbosis how you keep mentioning my "Mommy" all the time. Both of my parents are dead & have been for years. Your really crossing the line. Like I said in the past....come see me. I'm tired of your s***. Little punk b****es like get your ass handed to you eventually. You wouldn'y say anything like that to my face. I'm not 12. I'm 25 years old. That address was real. Everything that I've said before is true except the trick I pulled on you with the whole older brother thing with the computer.

You got that right Al. I think it is crucial to have a shutdown corner, and they don't come around very often.
