Yesterday, it was being reported that Pedro Martinez was in talks with the Florida Marlins about possibly pitching for their ballclub.
However, today that rumor is being disputed by Clark Spencer from the Miami Herald.
Spencer notes while Pedro does in fact have interest in pitching for the club, the Marlins have shown next to none in signing him.
He feels that Florida is either not interested or does not have the financial resources it would take to acquire the Cy Young award winner.
At this point, I don't know what to believe. One day, we hear that Martinez's first choice is pitching for the Mets, and the next we hear his No. 1 team is Florida.
Personally, if Pedro is to sign with a team other than the Mets, I would hope that it is a team that the Mets do not play frequently because I believe Martinez will be a force to be reckoned with.
