Packing for Vegas: College Basketball Betting Picks Jan. 11

Andrew KahnCorrespondent IJanuary 11, 2009

It's no secret I was slumping heading into yesterday, so going 3-2 and, more importantly, winning my two-unit bets was critical. If Villanova didn't blow it yesterday against Louisville (how bad did both of those teams look?) I could've been 4-1. But, I'll certainly take it!

Today got off to a good start when my alma mater, Michigan, easily won (and covered) versus Iowa. Although I didn't get on my computer in time to bet it, I was planning to, so I'll consider it a winner, even though I won't count it towards my record.

Later tonight, I like UCLA giving two to USC. The Trojans are coming off a loss to Oregon State, plus they lost to the Bruins at home last year by 10. UCLA, meanwhile, has won eight in a row by an average margin of 24 points since losing at Texas in early December.

Bruins win this one and improve to 3-0 in the Pac-10.

Update: I will also be taking St. Mary's -9 at San Francisco. Gaels have won 11 in a row, and won at SF by 22 last season.

Today's Pick: UCLA -2; 1 unit

                     St. Mary's -9; 1 unit

Season Record: 31-23 (57 percent); +11.8 units
