Denver Broncos: 4 Reasons Why the Denver Broncos Need Peyton Manning

0 of 4

If you own a television or have the Internet, you have no doubt heard about Peyton Manning being released by the Indianapolis Colt’s earlier this morning.

Now, this will start the Manning sweepstakes, as there are at least 20-25 teams in the NFL that are looking at Manning.  I understand that the Broncos have Tim Tebow, but they have very little at the quarterback position besides Tebow.

Any team other than Green Bay, Pittsburgh and the Patriots need to evaluate if Peyton Manning can help their team.  In the case of the Denver Broncos, my opinion is the Broncos need Peyton Manning in Denver next season.

Here are my four reasons why the Broncos need Peyton Manning.

Team Leadership

Bringing in a player of the caliber of Peyton Manning adds certain leadership to your team.  This is a team that lost in the playoffs last year to New England.  They surprised the NFL world by sneaking into the playoffs in the AFC.

Can you imagine what a little leadership would have done in that game?  In addition to that, can you imagine Peyton Manning’s arm throwing to the Broncos wide receivers?

I understand that Tebow may be the quarterback of the future for the Broncos, but an opportunity doesn’t come along like this every year.

Manning would make the Broncos an instant contender and a force to be reckoned with in the AFC West.

Wins

For any NFL team, the ultimate goal is wins in the regular season and the postseason.

If the Broncos were to add Manning, they could add at least 2-4 victories next season.  The Denver Broncos finished 8-8 last year, but needed very lucky events to happen in order to get there.  Manning has been a winner almost his entire career.  He would bring two Super Bowl appearances and several playoff seasons to the Broncos.

Peyton would also bring the ability to put together a full game instead of a comeback in the fourth quarter.  With like likes of the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and the Baltimore Ravens coming next year, the Broncos could use all of the help they can get.

Teacher for Tim Tebow

We all saw the 2011 season that Tim Tebow put together.  Now imagine the 2013 or 2014 season Tebow could have under the tutelage of Peyton Manning.

This is an experiment that the Denver Broncos should take the risk on.  Remember when Aaron Rodgers waited in the wings under Brett Favre?  That turned out well for the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers.

The Broncos could still utilize Tebow in certain packages in their offense.  Tebow would go back to being the “X-Factor” he was when Kyle Orton was the quarterback.

Now, I understand that many Tebow fans wouldn’t approve of this move.  They might see this as a step back for Tebow because he was the starter last season.  I would argue that more time studying especially under the future Hall of Famer like Manning would be the best possible scenario.

Playoffs

Since the Denver Broncos are in the lackluster AFC West, another run atop the division isn’t out of the question in 2012.  If the Broncos add Manning as their starter, they could look at a run towards the Super Bowl this year.

It takes leadership and experience to win in the NFL playoffs.  Simply the addition of Manning at quarterback would add that experience to this Broncos team.  They are a young group of NFL players, but they could build off of last season’s success and move into the upper echelon of the NFL.

If Tebow can see a quarterback like Manning win in the playoffs, he could learn how to win.

What are your thoughts as far as Manning in a Denver Broncos uniform?
