2012 NBA Draft: Players Whose Stock Will Plummet During March Madness
As Kemba Walker proved a year ago, the NCAA tournament can be the best possible stage for an NBA prospect to improve his draft position. The bright lights of March Madness also work the other way, though, and a bad performance in a high-pressure tournament game can just as easily sink a lottery hopeful.
One player whose draft prospects could potentially take a serious hit this March is Kentucky PG Marquis Teague. If any of the Wildcats’ NBA-bound stars are going to falter in the Big Dance—and it’s no sure thing that any of them will—Teague is the likeliest candidate, and given the importance of leadership at the point guard spot, such a lapse could be a real blow to Teague’s stock.
Of course, Kentucky is perhaps the least likely team in this year’s tournament field to suffer a major collapse. Stars on other rosters, though, don’t have that luxury.
Have a look at this collection of pro prospects who are likely find themselves falling on NBA draft boards by the time March Madness is done.
