Does Florida's National Title Win Mean the SEC Is the Best Conference?

L.C. MayCorrespondent IJanuary 10, 2009

Florida won the National Championship for the second time in three years. Does this mean the SEC is the most dominant conference? Well, there are several people in the country that would argue, but I say that the SEC is the best conference in the country.

I have several reasons for my reasoning on this decision, so I am going to name all of them because I know that someone is going to disagree with me.

The number one reason as of right now is that an SEC team has dominated in the past three National Championships against two different conferences. If you want me to name them, well here you go. In the 2007 National Title Game, Florida dominated Ohio State 41-14. The very next year Ohio State got dominated again, but instead by LSU. Then this year Oklahoma got dominated in the fourth quarter by Florida in the 24-14 loss.

The number two reason is that we have the tougher teams. I know the Big 12 has Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech, but Texas Tech got killed by Ole Miss, an SEC team, Oklahoma lost to Florida, an SEC team, Oklahoma State got beat, and Texas barely won.

So not to be insulting, but the SEC has Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Auburn (I know they were horrible this year, but they have been good), so the SEC has tougher challenges.

The number three reason is that the SEC has the best tradition and history of national titles, conference titles, players, coaches, and Heisman winners.

So yes, I do think that the SEC is the best conference because of these reasons. Feel free to comment.
