WWE RAW: Shawn Michaels-Triple H Feud Reignited for WrestleMania 28
Shawn Michaels returned to RAW last night, obviously dripping with sarcasm and disdain for his long time friend and foe, Triple H.
The confrontation that followed HBK’s arrival ended up leaving the crowd to speculate that possibly Shawn Michaels would end up screwing Triple H out of any chance that he has of breaking the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak, and ending an era.
Shawn ran a clip from two weeks ago, when Triple H and the Undertaker cut their promo to announce the Hell in the Cell match at WrestleMania 28. After watching the short clip of the announcement, HBK was obviously mad at the fact that 'Taker caused HHH to accept the match.
Knowing the history of HBK and HHH, it wasn't the fact that 'Taker finally succeeded in cementing the match, but what he said that pressed Triple H’s buttons so badly that he would accept. Undertaker used the rivalry that has been a large part of the WWE for years.
Recall that Shawn Michaels and Triple H have not only been friends for years, but have also been bad blood rivals as well. The feud began in the 2000's, matches that stemmed from returns at Royal Rumbles, battles at SummerSlam, all the way to triple-threat matches for the WWE Championship. But it all settled with the restoration of D-X and the retirement of HBK.
Tonight, that feud was revitalized, and not because Triple H did not bend to Shawn Michaels' request to take Triple H versus Undertaker part 3, but because of what 'Taker said to push HHH to accept the match.
“The worst thing that anybody could say to you, is that I am better than you” -Shawn Michaels, 3/5/2012
Hunter remained that the Undertaker’s words had nothing to do with him accepting the match, he claimed he’s doing the match so that people will stop calling Shawn a loser.
Shawn Michaels shocked the audience by announcing that not only will he be at WrestleMania 28, but he will be the guest referee for the Hell in a Cell matchup between Triple H and the Undertaker.
By calling Shawn better than Triple H, the Undertaker left speculation that HHH still has a burning desire to be better than HBK and that the feud was never truly settled.
Shawn Michaels showed that he was ready to end it. This is a nice sub-storyline to the bigger picture of Triple H versus The Undertaker.
Factoring in that Shawn couldn’t break the streak and neither could Triple H. The sub-storyline could aim to prove who is better once and for all, as well as who can take down the Phenom.
