From time to time, I catch wind of interesting trade rumors, but I pay most attention to those of the Leafs!

Over the holidays, I was talking to a source of mine, and a trade between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Los Angeles Kings was mentioned.

I first heard that Toronto would send goalie Vesa Toskala, defenseman Tomas Kaberle, and a 2009 second round draft pick to the Kings for forwards Anze Kopitar and Alexander Frolov.  It got me thinking why the Kings would trade their top two players, aside from Dustin Brown.

After chatting about this potential trade, I had doubts.  However, when you start thinking about this deal, it seems to make some sense. Los Angeles is in need of a goalie, and Toskala has proven that when the defense is solid, he plays well. When you look at the Kings defensive core, you have a fairly young and reliable group.  With the addition of Tomas Kaberle, leadership and great puckhandling is added.

Now that Toronto is in the rebuilding phase, the second round pick could come in handy.

If we step into Brian Burke's shoes, one can see that rebuilding around Kopitar and Frolov would be very beneficial, and motivate the team to play with some sort of intensity.
