Baseball fans argue about who the best hitter in baseball is all the time, but it’s relatively rare for fans to consider whether righties really stack up against lefties and vice versa.

It’s much more appropriate for us to compare righty hitters to righty hitters and lefty hitters to lefty hitters. Comparing the two of them isn’t exactly comparing apples to oranges, but baseball is a sport that requires a little more precision than other sports.

Today, we’re counting down the top five right-handed hitters in baseball. We’ll be judging them on things like batting average, on-base percentage, OPS, WAR and other funky stats. Consistency is key in this discussion. You’re not going to find any hitters on this list who have had just one great season.

So who makes the cut? Is Dustin Pedroia on this list? Surely Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera are on it, but how are they ranked?
