Preview of Cleveland Cavaliers' Next 5 Games
After two disappointing losses against the Celtics and Knicks, the Cavaliers have to catch fire in the next five games in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. In order for that to happen, the Cavaliers have to play hard for the full 48 minutes. The Cavaliers are 3.5 games behind the Celtics for the eight seed. However with their recent play, the Cavaliers have not proved that they can contend against the Celtics for the final spot in the Eastern Conference. That can quickly change if the Cavaliers can win three or more games in their next five. Winning at least three is extremely possible if the Cavs can regroup and re-energize. However, it will not be easy because they face many good teams, like the Bulls and the Thunder.
Here are the next five games for the Cavaliers and my prediction of the outcome:
1. 3/2 vs. Chicago Bulls
The first game is a tough one. The Cavaliers have to face the Chicago Bulls, who are the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. At 29-8, the Bulls have proved that they are ready to contend for the title. This is a daunting task for the Cavaliers but fortunately it is at Quicken Loans Arena.
Prediction: Even at home, the Cavaliers will be unable to match up against the Chicago Bulls. LOSS
2. 3/3 @ Washington Wizards
After a tough game against the Bulls, the Cavaliers will have a much easier task of playing the 7-28 Wizards. Currently the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards have shown little effort this year. However, the matchup between Kyrie Irving and John Wall will be a fun one to watch.
Prediction: Cavaliers have no problem against the lowly Wizards. WIN
3. 3/5 vs. Utah Jazz
Although the Jazz have a better record than the Cavaliers, the Jazz are ineffective on the road. They are just 3-12 on the road this season. The Cavaliers will have the home crowd backing them and they should be able to carry the momentum from the win against the Wizards into this game.
Prediction: Jazz are unable to play effectively on the road and the Cavs get their second-straight. WIN
4. 3/7 @ Denver Nuggets
Hopefully with two wins in a row under the Cavaliers' belt, they will be more confident against an above .500 team. However, they have to go Denver to play the tough Nuggets, who are 19-17. This will be the closest game out of the first four games on the Cavaliers' next ten games. The one good thing for the Cavaliers is that the Nuggets are only 7-8 against below .500 teams.
Prediction: Cavaliers fight strong and with the momentum they are able to grab a win on the road against the Nuggets. WIN
5. 3/9 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Even though the Cavaliers will be on a three game if win, if all goes as planned, they will have to face a very dangerous OKC Thunder. Led by Durant and Westbrook, the Thunder are almost unstoppable, which is shown by their 29-7 record. Besides this fact, the Thunder will be playing at home when they face the Cavaliers. At home they are even better than normal. In their first 16 games at home, they have only lost one game. This will be too much for the Cavaliers to handle.
Prediction: The Cavaliers will lose by a considerable amount and this game will end their win streak . LOSS
