Jesse Ryder is in the news again for the wrong reasons.
Ryder missed a training session and team meeting due to a late night of drinking. I
t brings you back to the event when the Blackcaps won the ODI series against England last year when he put his hand through a window trying to get to a toilet in Christchurch.
Ryder has subsequently been dropped for the fourth ODI must-win game against the West Indies at Eden Park. Martin Guptil will likely take his place.
It was looking good for Ryder this year on and off the field. A few good series with the bat, even though not making a century, and keeping away from the sort of situations that put him the bad books with NZ Cricket last year. Was this sort of thing bound to happen again?
He has apologised to his teammates and has said that he needs to work harder with his problems and hopefully he will turn it around and get back in with the young and improving Blackcaps side.
Justin Vaughan has expressed the current issue is not like the one last year in severity and hopefully New Zealand cricket don't lose faith in one of New Zealand's brightest stars for the future.
