Thiago "Pitbull" Alves and Martin Kampmann will begin 2012 not with a whimper but with a bang, and with a bang as tremendous as the one with which each ended 2011, as Alves defeated Papy Abedi and Kampmann outpointed Rick Story.

However, for one of these men to achieve success inside the Octagon, the other must fold in front of a live crowd in the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia, and while one man has to win and the other has to lose, neither man will be willing to go down without a fight.

Also, Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez have finally made the move to the 125-pound flyweight division, and they both seem pretty well-set on facing each other for the UFC Flyweight Championship.

But before they can combat each other, consensus No. 1 world-ranked flyweight and former TPF World Flyweight Champion "Uncle Creepy" Ian McCall awaits his moment in the sun with "Mighty Mouse", while consistently world-ranked flyweight and former Shooto 123-pound Bantamweight Champion Yasuhiro Urushitani welcomes "The Beefcake" to 125 pounds.

Both Flyweight Tournament semifinals have all the makings for Fight of the Night, and with the "sudden victory" rounds in full effect, they could give us the strength of a title fight within two bouts with four rounds apiece.

Finally, Court McGee returns on the strength of a win over Dongi Yang to combat Constantinos Philippou in an exciting middleweight bout that will see the winner start to make some noise in a seemingly bare yet still-loaded 185-pound division.

All this and more awaits the MMA world, from the first opening bell to the rolling of the end credits, so without further ado, Bleacher Report MMA—your home for all the best MMA coverage online—presents its live blog coverage of UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann!
