The United States has defeated Italy in an international soccer friendly, 1-0, following Clint Dempsey's goal from Jozy Altidore in the 55th minute. This win marks the first time that the United States have ever beaten Italy and was also the fourth straight win for the United States under Jurgen Klinsmann.

While neither team was playing at full strength, with Landon Donovan noticeably absent for the Americans, this was easily the best result in the Klinsmann era. Michael Bradley was superb controlling the midfield, and Carlos Bocanegra and the rest of the defense did a great job limiting the Italians' attack.

All in all, this was a top-notch result for the United States and is a phenomenal stepping stone for the U.S. men's national team.
