Real Madrid's hard-fought 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano marked Jose Mourinho's 50th win in La Liga with the capital club.

Cristiano Ronaldo's wonderful back-heel proved to be the only goal in the capital derby as Mourinho recorded his 50th La Liga win with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

Mourinho's 50th win came after only 62 matches, with his team drawing six and losing six games while Josep Guardiola's all-conquering Barcelona needed five more games to complete the milestone.

Mourinho has now won an incredible 81 per cent of his games in La Liga with Real Madrid. His biggest win was against Almeria in the last game of the last season's La Liga with his team beating the opposition 8-1.

Having already won 21 out of 24 league games this season, Real Madrid could easily surpass the 100-point mark.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo's incredible back-heel was his 123rd goal in 125 matches for Real Madrid. Ronaldo has already scored 29 goals in this year's La Liga and could easily surpass his last-season record of 40 goals.

Real Madrid now await a tough home match against Espanyol on March 4.
