The Mystery of the Old Baseball Photo

Jennifer TaglioneCorrespondent IJanuary 7, 2009

Calling all baseball historians and Pittsburgh Pirates fans!

A few months ago, I was given quite a few boxes of old family photos. And while going through some of my grandparents I came across this photo.

Been trying to find out information about it for a few months now and no one seems to know. And unfortunately, there is no one in the family now that might be able to help me. Based on the logo on the uniform, we determined that the photo must have been taken from 1937-1946 (see Sportslogos.net for reference). And based on family history and info, my guess is that it was in the '40s and after WWII.

My grandfather had great photos from Japan during the war and tons of really old family photos going all the way back into the 1800s. Would be really interesting to find out who these players are!

If you have any ideas, or know someone that might be able to help, I would appreciate it. I know the picture quality isn’t that great but any leads would help and I can try to rescan it!
