After being mired in a long losing streak since returning to SmackDown, the former Intercontinental Champion, Drew McIntyre, is on course for a character repackaging from the role he has had since joining the company in 2006.
The aforementioned character change might be a bit drastic for McIntyre, but made its debut at a SmackDown house show in Honduras this week.
From Wrestling News Source:
Drew McIntyre is set to be re-packaged with an "arrogant playboy" gimmick soon. According to fan reports at the SmackDown live event in Honduras this weekend he was blowing kisses and combing his hair. The kisses were directed at males, which gives you an idea of the direction WWE are going with this gimmick.
I think the WWE is making a mistake with this new character. The Scottish superstar has way more potential to become a championship-caliber superstar instead of some stupid “arrogant playboy” character.
With the roster for the WWE being incredibly thin at the moment, McIntyre could have been a great person to help the main event scene during the Elimination Chamber instead of the Great Khali, in addition to Wade Barrett’s injury last Monday.
Even though it might seem like a good idea right now, the WWE will once again see their new plan for McIntyre blow up in their faces just like countless other superstars through the years.
So, Bleachers, do you feel the change in character is a good or bad thing for Drew McIntyre at this point in his WWE career?
