This past Tuesday on the live edition of Super Smackdown, Cody Rhodes may have awoken the proverbial sleeping giant when he goaded the Big Show.

During the match between Big Show and Mark Henry, Rhodes came out and cut a scathing promo on Show, commenting on everything from his less-than-stellar record at WrestleMania to his lack of physical conditioning.

This enraged Show, and he knocked out Henry with the “WMD,” then left the ring to chase after Rhodes and the match ended up in a no-contest.

On the surface this could be a preamble to a Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show Match at the “Super Bowl” of professional wrestling, WrestleMania.

There is a large number of rumours circulating around the Internet wrestling community about the possibility of a Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust Match for the WWE Intercontinental Title at Mania, but a Rhodes vs. Show Match would be a better fit, not only for Rhodes but for Big Show as well.

At the February WWE pay-per-view, Elimination Chamber, Rhodes eliminated Big Show with some help from Wade Barrett.

This was a huge win for Rhodes and if the chamber match were booked in his favour, he would have gone far and possibly won the World Heavyweight Championship.

This win for Rhodes was the first shot fired that waged war on the “World's Largest Athlete,” The Big Show.

The Big Show's WrestleMania win-loss record currently stands at 2-8, a tie with Triple H for the most losses at Mania.

If Show were to wrestle Rhodes in a match, it could be booked in his favour and he could redeem his abysmal WrestleMania record by getting the 3-count over Rhodes.

On the other side of the coin, if the match were booked in Rhodes' favour, it would be a big accomplishment if he defeated Big Show at WrestleMania.

Considering that Big Show is a more relevant WWE superstar than Goldust, it would be better for Rhodes' career if he beat Big Show and he could claim that he is the man who kept Show's pathetic WrestleMania record intact.

He would have promo material for weeks after that match, which would draw massive heat from the fans.

If this match were to happen, the WWE Intercontinental Title should be on the line, because over the last few months, it has not been put on the line in the majority of Rhodes' matches.

If Show won the match, the icing on the cake would be a new championship he could add to his résumé.

If Rhodes won, he could make a claim as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time by defeating a man as large as The Big Show.

There are 36 days left until WrestleMania, so a lot can happen between now and when the event gets underway.

There is a good chance that the upper echelon of the WWE already has something planned in the works for Rhodes and Big Show.

If they do not, which wouldn't be a big surprise, booking this match would be a great addition to the card for the biggest event in professional wrestling, WrestleMania.
