After Monday's shocking announcement that Triple H will face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXVIII in a Hell in a Cell match, it's time to take a look at the most anticipated matches in the history of WrestleMania.
There have been so many matches that it's hard trying to find 10, but these 10 were/are matches that gave wrestling fans goosebumps and made them wish the event started tomorrow.
Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant: Wrestlemania III
Hulk Hogan was a dominant champion reigning over the WWF and defeating all comers. Meanwhile, Andre the Giant was undefeated, and felt that the WWF Title should be his.
Andre turned on Hogan and attacked him, setting the stage for the biggest match in history to that point. 93,173 people packed into the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, to see this match.
The Ultimate Challenge: Wrestlemania VI
The Ultimate Warrior dominated the WWF upon his arrival, and soon it was clear that the Warrior was the heir apparent to Hulk Hogan.
Hogan wanted to see for himself, so he issued the Ultimate Challenge for Wrestlemania VI. Fans wanted to know if Hogan was going to pass the torch.
HBK vs Bret Hart: Wrestlemania XII
The most personal feud in wrestling history started with this match.
Both men were fan favorites. Hart, a no nonsense technician was the best wrestler in the world, while Michaels was the more popular wrestler and the most athletic wrestler ever.
Both men were jealous of each other, and the fans knew something special was going to happen.
HBK vs Stone Cold Steve Austin: Wrestlemania 14
Stone Cold was starting to receive his big push, and Michaels body was starting to break down. However, fans knew this would be a special match.
Added to the intrigue was Mike Tyson, who was the special enforcer. Tyson and Austin memorably almost started brawling on Raw, so no one knew what would happen on pay-per-view, with an unstable Tyson and Austin.
TLC II: Wrestlemania X-Seven
For over a year, the Dudleys, Edge and Christian, and the Hardy's engaged in some of the most entertaining matches ever.
Their ladder match at the previous WrestleMania was regarded as one of the best ever, then they upped the ante at Summerslam, introducing the first ever TLC match.
This match at WrestleMania X-Seven was viewed as the final chapter.
Stone Cold vs the Rock: Wrestlemania X-Seven
More popular than Hart and Michaels were in 1996, Austin and The Rock were household names. Both men had established fan bases. Both men were in their prime, and this was the biggest match of the popular Attitude Era of the WWE.
Icon vs Icon: Wrestlemania X-8
This was the ultimate matchup of old school vs. new school.
Fans from both men's eras were intrigued by this match. Even though Hogan was well past his prime, he was still in good enough shape to make this a great match.
Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg: Wrestlemania XX
Both of these men arrived at their respective companies and achieved immediate success. Goldberg received an astronomical push in WCW, racking up close to 200 victories before losing.
From the moment Brock Lesnar arrived in WWE, he destroyed everything in his path. Lesnar beat Hogan, The Rock, and the Undertaker within his first year. So when Goldberg joined WWE, fans immediately dreamed of a match between Lesnar and Goldberg.
Unfortunately, the match did not live up to the hype.
HHH vs the Undertaker: Wrestlemania XXVIII
Both the Undertaker and Triple H acknowledge that their careers are coming to an end, so at Wrestlemania XXVIII, they are going to put all on the line inside Hell in a Cell. This could be the most brutal match in WWE since it's gone to PG.
The Rock vs John Cena: Wrestlemania XXVIII
The self proclaimed, "biggest match in WWE history," these guys really don't like each other, which adds to the excitement of what's going to happen.
This match is seven years in the making, and expect this WrestleMania to be the most lucrative of all time.
