Free Agents the Oakland Raiders Need for 2009

I have been writing a few articles on what I feel the Raiders should do in the offseason for 2009, and am using reality for these decisions.
This time, I am going to just go with what I want to happen, from the bottom of my heart, which is colored Silver and Black.
Now, not all these moves are unrealistic, but with the way the cap is, I don't see more than one of them possibly happening.
So, on with the show!
Bring in the Big Man!
It has been the same story for the last couple of seasons: we need a big gap filler in the middle of our D-Line.
Who better to fill that gap than a Defensive Player of the year candidate?
Haynesworth has been the anchor on the Titans D-Line and just imagine what he could do in Oakland!
Now, the problem with this pick is that there are so many teams who will be throwing money at him, I just don't see him picking Oakland as his first choice.
How about that catch?!
T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been nothing but a productive player on a Bengals' team where he gets overlooked by the media because of CJ.
The Raiders are in desperate need of a true No. 1 receiver, and I firmly believe that a partnership of TJ and JMR would be a thing of beauty.
However, I don't think that Cincinnati will let him leave, as CJ is on his way out the door very soon.
Let's get Grossed Out!
A man who has been a starter since he came into the league in 2003, Jordan Gross would be that anchor on the O-Line that has been missing over the last few years.
Between him and Super Mario Henderson, the Raiders would have a dynamic tackle combo.
This is the one move that I could see actually happening! Its a position of need, and I think that Gross would not demand a ridiculous amount of cash.
How About a Solid Anchor for the middle?
Matt Birk has been the center for the Vikings for as long as I can remember, and there is simply no better player at the position.
This is not a position of need, as I feel that the Raiders do have a good center in Jake Grove; but, like I said, this is fantasy, not what I think will actually happen.
How About a Little Fresh Peppers?
The most freakish athlete to play the game. Carolina will never let Julius Peppers leave Carolina, in my personal opinion...but you never know, right?
Anyways, could you imagine having Peppers and Burgess line up against your O-Line? Who do you double team? How do you deal with that power?!
Out of all the moves that I have outlined so far, this is one I really want to happen!! That way the Raiders could draft an O-Lineman, and still be able to draft a DT, and who better for Trevor Scott to learn from than two of the most dynamic pass rushers to play the game?
The One Man Asked Not To Say
Ray Lewis has defined the middle linebacker position and is truly the heart and soul of that powerful Baltimore Ravens defense.
He is getting on in years, but who better to teach the young linebackers of the Raiders how to truly intimidate offenses across the league?
Just imagine a linebacking corps with Howard, Morrison, and Lewis?! The speed, the power, the crunches as QBs get taken down?!!
Wow. Someone smack me and wake me up from this dream!
The Man Who Covers One Side Of The Field Just By Being There
Nnamdi Asomugha finally got his due and was voted to the Pro Bowl this year, which is just another reason that the Raiders can't let him leave!
The man scares the opposition so much that QBs do everything they can to avoid throwing to whichever side of the field he is on!!
This is another move that I think will come to fruition.
If not, I don't know how many more years I have left in me to root for the Silver and Black.
So that's it! My wishlist for 2009. Now I know there is no way to have all of these things happen, but one or two are possible.
