NFL Free Agency 2012: 5 Players Sure to Be Overpaid

Justine BrownCorrespondent IIFebruary 23, 2012

The 2012 NFL free agency class certainly has a lot of talent to offer, but the question is, how much are the players truly worth?

Obviously, a player like Drew Brees is more than worthy to receive the contract he deserves, but there are a number of other players who despite unquestionable talent may have too much risk to put up the pretty penny.

Risks with some of these players include injury, like Bills left tackle Demetrius Bell, who has missed 17 games since becoming the team's starter, age,  like Colts defensive end Robert Mathis, who will be 31 next season, or inexperience, like Packers quarterback Matt Flynn, who hss started just two games in his career.

Even with a gamble, though, there is always a team that is willing to come around and make the investment. Sometimes this investment pays off and other times it results in overpaying a player and receiving either a slow return or no return at all.
