Real Madrid: Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema Suffer Tough Injuries

Dusan LucicCorrespondent IIFebruary 23, 2012

On Sunday, it was reported that Angel Di Maria suffered a minor injury during his 30-minute cameo against Racing Santander, and it was expected that he would recover quickly.

But Di Maria's injury is worse than expected, and the Argentinian winger could be sidelined for a month, according to Marca reports.

According to the report, the further analysis has shown a recurrence of Di Maria's thigh injury. This means Jose Mourinho will not be able to select him for at least four league games and the return leg of UEFA Champions League encounter with CSKA Moscow.

Karim Benzema picked up a muscular injury in the match against CSKA Moscow and will spend the next three weeks on the sidelines. The striker was forced off after spending only 16 minutes on the pitch. The France international will miss the next three league games, as well as the return leg of UEFA Champions League last-16 round.

Mourinho will now have a lot of problems in his team selections, with his attacking duo sidelined for quite some time. The attacking duo has been involved in 56 goals since the start of season, scoring 27 and assisting 29 more goals.

Only time will tell if Mourinho is able to find a solution to the injury problems his team is facing.
