A former first round pick surrounded by hype upon entry to the NHL, it's hard to believe just a few short years later, a kid that was once regarded as a cornerstone of the future, isn't even with the team nowadays.
As is such for the Toronto Maple Leafs in this rebuilding state. And as is life for Alex Steen. Once considered a candidate to be the next captain of the team (and rightfully so) Steen was shipped out of town earlier this year, sent packing alongside Carlo Colaiacovo to St. Louis.
And as much of a shock as being traded from the only team he called home was, Steen is past it, and is fitting in comfortably in his new role, with his new team.
Always an approachable guy, Steen appears on today's episode of Leafs Talk Today, airing at 1:30 PM Eastern, to discuss the trade, his life growing up inside the Winnipeg Jets locker room, and a whole lot more.
It's an exclusive interview on Leafs Talk Today you don't want to miss.
Getting comfortable in St. Louis wasn't difficult for the Canadian-born, Swedish centre. He speaks glowingly about his new teammates, who have helped him fit into a new room. He also takes time to hype a fellow Swede he thinks will be making sweet music with the Blues in a few years.
Also on today's show Derek and Josh weave their way through all the latest news concerning the Toronto Maple Leafs and the National Hockey League, including the latest on Jarkko Ruutu's suspension, and the KHL in financial trouble.
