This is a follow up to my previous article "Is Tennessee for real?"
The question got answered last tonight, Tennessee is for real!
Can you believe with Chris Lofton having no three pointers, Tennessee was still able to pull off arguable the greatest win in Volunteer basketball history.
- B/R Ticket Guide
The fact that Lofton only scored 7 points, although four of them crucial to the victory, is a testimony to Tennessee being a number one team.
When your best three point shooter is down and you still win against the number one team in the nation, then you can truly say "We are for real".
You can also say that Bruce Pearl has pulled these guys together as a team that can play even when one of their finest is down. This is what teamwork is all about. With Chism, Prince, the Smiths and Lofton and the rest, this team has no stars but they are all stars.
It was a great game to watch and everything you would expect from a No. 1 vs No. 2 matchup. Tennessee can truly now be taken seriously. They rose to the occasion and proved to us all they deserve to be called No. 1
I know it might be early to predict, there is still plenty of b-ball to be played. But I predict you will see Tennessee playing in the final four and most likely in the championship game.
Against who? Your guess is as good as mine.

Too many stupid decisions, shots, turnovers, etc... Kentucky showed the world how bad the SEC was in the early to middle 00's by crappy showings in the NCAA tournament. The SEC is still staring down the barrel of being a horrid conference. Tennessee still has a lot to prove...

Matthew, Tennessee proved that they can beat the #1 ranked team in the nation. That is as much as any team can prove. There is a lot of ball left to play this season and the best odds, in my opinion, that you could reasonably give any team with walking off with the big trophy is 20%. I would give Tennessee 20%. I'd give Memphis, UCLA, and NC 20% I'd give Duke 15% and Texas 13%. But truely Mathew, What else can Tennessee do? They are worthy to play with the big boys and they are worthy, for now, to be called #1.

Remind me what conference the last two NCAA championships belong to again...

Also, Matthew, Tennessee has alot more to prove????? They just beat the best team in the nation, or should i say second best now, and you think they have alot to prove. Also, I agree with Tim, the last two championships have come from the SEC. so they aren't "staring down the barrel" of anything. Also, nobody has said it yet, but, it will be said at one point; "the SEC is having a down year", BULLCRAP!!!! They aren't having a down year the reason the records are "down" is because it is the toughest conference in the nation with atleast 7 getting into the tourney.

Tennessee was very impressive and it was a good game, but in the end the game will have almost no impact. Both teams were getting 1 seeds before this game, and both deserve 1 seeds afterward. The only thing we learned is that these two clubs are very evenly matched and deserve to be top spots come tournament time.

oh yeah....florida and LSU were showing how the SEC is a turning into a worthless conference to right? and the fact they get almost the most teams in the tourney year after year....you're a genius!!!!!
